Colored pencils+ink+maskoid+watercolor = neato! Going to try again with a different paper type. Though my bristol smooth survived – just barely, I would like to find something that holds all those mediums well. The ink is a bit of a problem – it bled like crazy if/when any water got near it – I just need to be more fine with applying the maskoid with the next one.

This one was done on a 4″x6″ block paper. Which is a type of watercolor I didn’t even know about before and it’s pretty amazing. No more stretching and taping for me!

I’ve always wanted to get into painting and finally I’m jumping right in. I always tell my son to try and try again – failure is what learning is all about. I’m taking my own advice and have been working with watercolors all week. I’m trying them out, and thanks to many amazing instructional youtube videos learning wonderful things.

On the topic of youtube this woman is amazing AND she has a wonderful taste in music in my opinion at least. Take some time to appreciate her talent:
